» Erdogan Claims UN and Western Values Are Fading in Gaza

By: Misbahul Islam:- Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has criticized the United Nations for its lack of action on Gaza and accused Israel of transforming the Palestinian territory into what he termed “the world’s largest cemetery for children and women.”

 

Addressing the UN General Assembly in New York on Tuesday, he stated, “In Gaza, it is not only children who are dying but also the United Nations system. The values that the West purports to defend are perishing, the truth is perishing, and the hopes of humanity for a more just world are fading away one by one.”

 

He directly questioned, “Are those in Gaza and the occupied West Bank not human beings? Do the children of Palestine not have rights?”

 

Erdogan, a vocal critic of Israel’s actions in Gaza, also rebuked Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government for escalating conflict in the Middle East, calling on the international community to halt “Netanyahu and his network of aggression,” and drawing a parallel between the prime minister and Adolf Hitler.

 

“As humanity’s alliance halted Hitler 70 years ago, so must Netanyahu and his network of aggression be stopped by the same alliance,” he declared.

 

The Turkish president demanded an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, citing Israeli military operations that have resulted in at least 41,467 fatalities. He noted that in Israel, the death toll from Hamas-led attacks on October 7 stood at a minimum of 1,139, with over 200 individuals taken captive.

 

Erdogan called for “an immediate and lasting ceasefire, the execution of a hostage-prisoner exchange, and the unimpeded, continuous delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza.”

 

On the same day at the UNGA, other regional leaders also expressed their opposition to Israel’s military actions in Gaza.
